Buying A Paintball Tank? - How to choose the best one

Which paintball tank you choose depends on what type of air supply you'd prefer to use. Paintball air tanks for both liquid carbon dioxide and nitrogen gas are widely available online and in paintball shops. Tanks for CO2 are popular, as this type of air supply is cheap and easy to buy. Nitro or compressed air is more expensive and not so readily available. Many dedicated paintballers prefer this type of air system, however, as it is more reliable and provides constant air pressure.

Paintball CO2 tanks have a few potential disadvantages. For instance, if the tank has been overfilled or it's cold weather, there might not be enough heat or space for the liquid to expand to a gas. If liquid CO2 gets into the paint ball gun, if can cause harm to the internal mechanisms. It can also cause markers to freeze up for a few seconds, which can be disastrous in paintball games, giving opponents the chance to shoot you down. Paint ballers find that this variation in expansion can also affect the speed and accuracy of their paintballs.

There are several accessories that can be used with paintball tanks to help make the air supply more efficient and reliable. Anti siphon valves, sold at inexpensive prices, can be placed inside tanks to stop liquid CO2 getting into a marker. Regulators and expansion chambers attached to the tank and gun are other solutions. All sorts of paintball equipment can be found at great prices at online stores. Sometimes it's possible to save money by buying all the essential gear together in a paintball gun package, or supplies can be bought separately as your skills progress.
